In 2005, Alice Ramsey was diagnosed with breast cancer. Friends rallied around and were an inspiration, as well as Alice herself. They all had a strong resolve that cancer would be the loser and Alice would be the winner.

On days of her treatment, Alice was accompanied by her friends. Because pink is the color for breast cancer research, the ladies began wearing pink - pink shirts, pink caps, pink slacks, even pink feather boas! They brought coloring books for those waiting for treatment, they laughed, they picked up the spirits of the other patients. After several visits, the staff had christened this group of friends: THE PINK POSSE.

As Alice's posse was leaving the doctor's office one day, they overheard a nurse asking a patient when she wanted her next appointment. The lady replied, "I want to be here when they come!"

By talking with her fellow patients, Alice learned that many were not able to pay for their treatment, much less their day to day expenses. Some were behind on bills, rent or mortgages, and some had problems with transportation for treatment. Hearing this, Alice and the Pink Posse decided they could do something about this.

Alice recalls sharing these stories with her mother, Ms. Totsie. She responded, "Alice, you can't change the world, but you can take care of your little corner." It was that conversation that gave birth to The Pink Posse Foundation.

Founded in 2006, The Pink Posse Foundation is a 501(c)(3) comprised of local people serving local people during their cancer treatment.

The Annual Pink Posse Walk is held at Alice and Chris Ramsey's home. After the walk, survivors are honored. Gifts are donated by those attending and the gifts are raffled off. This is the main fundraiser for the year. Additionally, The Pink Posse has sponsored holes for local golf tournaments, and the golfers have responded generously without being asked. Individuals also donate to help the Pink Posse aid local cancer patients.

Over the last three years, the Pink Posse has helped 57 local families while their family members were under treatment for cancer.

The Pink Posse is a small local foundation... and we know we cannot change the entire world, but we can take care of our own little corner.
